Piorun Psychology does not offer crisis services. If you are experiencing a crisis, including thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please contact 000 immediately or visit the nearest Accident & Emergency (A&E) department of your local hospital for urgent assistance. I also have some other contact numbers if you are experiencing a crisis.
Deciding on the right therapist for you is not always easy. I offer a 15 min initial phone call (at no cost to you) to talk about what you are struggling with in the hope to gain an insight if we would be a good fit for future sessions. If at this point it is decided that you would like to proceed, we then book you in for your first session. You have the choice of telehealth or in-person sessions.
Usually what is discussed in this session is:
This is usually to understand the context of the issues you are facing and will give me an understanding of how to support you.
The session times are for you to bring up what you would like to discuss. Most sessions I will check to see how you have gone from our last session and establish what will be talking about during the session. Sometimes you may have identified a particular problem to discuss, other times we may continue from where our session finished previously.
We will regularly review our work together to check-in with your goals, see what’s working well and what aspects are challenging. This allows us to keep up a collaborative approach to your sessions.
Deciding when your therapy sessions will come to an end is also a collaborative process. After a review of your therapy goals we will plan for the end of therapy ensuring you feel ready to finish the therapeutic process.
Are sessions that are conducted via video calls. This service is ideal for people who are not able to attend face-to-face sessions.
Telehealth sessions require a device that has a stable connection to the internet. Please choose a comfortable location for your telehealth appointment where you won’t be disturbed. The video call programs that I use have end-to-end encryption to ensure your privacy, but you will need to make sure your physical location is private.
To ensure a duty of care is maintained I need to have details such as a phone number to contact you and emergency contact details. If the call drops out at any point I would like to make sure you have support.
If you are suicidal or in a crisis please call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14
